Smt. Ishita Roy, IAS an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (Kerala:1991) has taken charge as Chief Executive Officer & Member Secretary of Central Silk Board on September 2, 2011. Her current duties involve, inter alia, planning for sericultural development programmes, budgeting, monitoring of schemes, supervision of research programmes, studying policy issues and advising the Government of India on them, coordination with various State governments, foreign bodies, trade organizations, etc.

Before joining the IAS, she did graduation from Patna University. In a career spanning two decades, she held several important positions with the Government of India and the provincial governments of Kerala in diverse fields such as land revenue management, district administration, finance, social justice & empowerment, personnel & general administration, environment & forests, information technology & communications, agriculture & cooperation, etc.

It is great pleasure in welcoming Smt. Ishita Roy who will have the onerous task of leading the Indian sericulture / silk industry through the next Five Years in a setting beset with undulating global silk markets, unscrupulous trade practices, and a seemingly impending recession in the western world which happens to be major market for silk products.
